Cooperation Programme between Croatia and North Macedonia

Cooperation Programme between Croatia and North Macedonia
12 October 2024

Ministry of Science, Education, and Youth of the Republic of Croatia and the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of North Macedonia have recently signed the Cooperation Programme in the field of education for the period from 2024 to 2028. The Programme, which will enter into force on 29 September 2024 and remain valid until 31 December 2028, fosters mutual academic growth, cultural preservation, and educational collaboration between the two countries.

The biggest news in the Programme in the field of higher education is that for citizens of North Macedonia who enrol in a full course of study in the Republic of Croatia the same conditions regarding tuition fees will apply as for domestic students. This is a measure that contributes to the increase of the level of internationalisation of the Croatian higher education system and the number of foreign students who enrol in a full course of study in the Republic of Croatia.

The Programme also includes the exchange of up to 24 scholarships annually for advanced studies, with additional summer language course scholarships; collaboration within the framework of EU programmes and the CEEPUS regional programme to facilitate academic exchange and joint projects in areas of shared interest; promotion of Croatian language in North Macedonia and Macedonian language in Croatia; support for joint postgraduate programmes and academic cooperation and sharing experiences in educational reforms related to EU integration.
